Ashantai Noelle Ellis, Miss Juneteenth 2012-13

Ashantai Noelle Ellis, 18 year-old, daughter of Paula Polk and Zavaughn Ellis. She recently graduated from Centennial High school where she was involved in cheerleading, track, FBLA, VP Girl’s Cabinet, Student Advisory Council, sophomore class secretary and treasurer, junior Class President and editor of Annual Staff. While in high school, she attended Pueblo Community College and received over 30 college credits that will transfer to CSU-Fort Collins in the fall. Ashantai plans to major in Biochemistry and ASL. Her proudest achievement is being honored to be an interpreter at Colorado State University –Pueblo’s graduation. What makes her unique is her ability to accept people for who they are; even though they may come from a different background.

Mikalah Ann Moore, Jr. Miss Juneteenth 2012-13

Mikalah Ann Moore, 14 year old soon-to-be freshmen at Central High School, is the daughter of Van and Monica Moore. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Academic Excellence Society and the outgoing Juneteenth Princess 2011-12. Mikalah loves to write and recently made the JV Cheerleading Squad at Central. She has played Volleyball, Basketball and competed in track. She enjoys modeling, and designing clothes. Mikalah is very active in her youth group at New Bethany Baptist Church. Her dream college right now is the University of Georgia. Mikalah’s career goal is to become a Criminal Defense Lawyer. She is unique because she has a great sense of style, compassionate, loves to stand up for the “underdog” and sees the beauty in everyone.
